Moi! Niin, I have found this website that gives scholarship raha to amerikkalainen who translate a short story or runo into a Scandinavian kieli. I have already asked a few Finnish friends if they know any lapset stories or runo that I could translate into englanti ja they are looking for me. I wanted to see if ehkä you guys knew of a story I could start translating! :) Even if I didn't win the prize, it would still be hyvä for me to practice my suomea :D
Let me know if anyone knows of a hyvä story or runo!!
Love,
Karissa

I go through these phases...
2:48 pm
First, I feel like I am on top of the world and can conquer absolutely anything.
The next day, I feel like a single blade of grass in a forest. Insignificant and hardly worth a thing.
I.CAN'T.KEEP.UP.

3:27 pm
So I'm still in a pissy/depressive mood, but I felt like I needed to finish this post at least and explain why.
On my way home from school, I stopped at Wells Fargo (while I was in an 'on-top-of-the-world' mood) to ask about their student loans. So I ask if they have international loans, for Finland next year, and they said yeah we do! And then I named like every school in Suomi to "see if they have a partnership with them" and of course they don't. England, France, etc but no Finland. So then I ask the guy if they would give me like a normal loan that I can use for it. He asked if I had a job and credit and blah blahblah and basically told me it would be nearly impossible for me to get a loan even with a cosigner. What was I expecting? Them to just hand over the money? I don't know. Not this though.
So I'm trying to sell an old iPod video of mine now and the expensive case I bought with it. Still works fine, but you gotta do what you gotta do for Finland I suppose..
http://fresno.craigslist.org/ele/1887579138.html
I would sell it for way less, but I was just hoping someone would want it for that much hah. I'm going to take new pictures (not from a cell phone) of it and put it for a lower price next time.
I'm thinking of selling my Fender guitar too if worst comes to worst.
If you're interested, let me know. I'll probably start selling more stuff too. No other choice.
P.S. I'm sorry for the awful, depressing post. By tomorrow, I'm sure I will love everything again, gag me..
P.S.S This weekend, I am going to my aunt's house to go talk with her Finnish neighbor so he can help me apply for schools. She is also the aunt that I am (hopefully) going to Finland with this December so we are going to plan everything out then too. Found three water bottles today and put them in my trunk for recycling money! ;)

My Finland Painting! :)
Seems so fitting that the only painting I've ever done is a woman in a dress in the shape of my beloved Suomi! I see myself in Finland? I'm not sure. It isn't too good but HEY I'm proud of it so leave it alone :)
P.S. Also take note of the magazine pinned to the wall in the lower right corner. Does anyone recognize it? (:

Karissa

News!!
Moi! Anteeksi, I haven't posted in a very long time! Haven't been keeping you all up to date with my adventure to Suomi :) Mutta, nyt minä am back ja with news this time! In joulukuu, my aunt is going to Suomi for work ja she has agreed to take me along as long as I pay for my airplane ticket!!!!! She is going to let me stay in her hotel/pay for my food/etc as long as I pay for the ticket. So NOW I am on a total mission to get $800 by December!! I have around $150 right now. I've been collecting bottles ja cans ja picking up every coin I find on the street so I can get enough in time! Plus, from all my family ja relatives, I am asking for money so I can go for joulu. So I really really hope this works out. Sorry this post is so inarticulate (not even sure if that is a word haha). My thoughts are so jumbled and I just want to get them all out! Secondly, I am volunteering at the elementary school I went to so I can get some experience working with kids, in particular kids who don't speak English, so when I go to school in Suomi I can maybe become an English as a Second Language teacher :) Just thoughts now!
Finally, major kiitos to everyone who left me comments on my last post :) It made me feel so good to come on here to see that even people I don't know are rooting for me to make my goal! It just really gave me a kickstart again and I've been putting myself into high gear to make sure my dreams come true!

Karissa
<- My current desktop background :) I found this on deviantart. Does anyone know where this bridge is at in Suomi?

Paha Maa
Tervetuloa!
It's a keskiviikko (Wednesday) night in sunny California and I'm busy watching Paha Maa. :)
I've only seen lumi (snow) four times in my life! I am in for such a shock in 2011. I can't wait!
By the way, I'm Karissa. I'm 19 years old. And I have dreams of going to college in Finland in fall 2011.
So much more to come!
Love,
Karissa
